Where the Shannon meets the Sea …

Spent a few days around Kilkee in Co. Clare. With a lot of local help [thank you Anthony & Joe], we traced the coast from Quilty to Loop Head and along the Shannon on the other side of the headland … there is no showing it all, but here are some of the images:

Wetplate Collodion

The Gallery of Photography is offering a wetplate workshop with Monika Fabijanczyk. I very much enjoyed her class last July. If you always wanted to try this process, this is the workshop to go for.

Postcards & Artist Notebooks

Two little projects worthwhile mentioning:

KRF - notebook

KRF:2 – Artist Notebook Project: As part of the 3rd Kildare Reader Festival, artists were invited to participate by filling a moleskine notebook with their notes, ideas … any creative way. Organised by Kildare County Council Library and Arts Services, all notebooks returned are part of a permanent touring collection.

Following the notebook exhibition in Newbridge, Kildare, it can now be seen in Drogheda, Co Louth: Droichead Arts Centre Drogheda | 9 January – 23 February

Three member of the Melt Collective have their notebooks on show: Karen Tierney, Sonja Kroll and Alan Bennett

The Postcard Collective invites artists 4 times a year to participate in their quarterly postcard exchange. Theme for the Fall 2012 exchange was ‘Accidental Discoveries’ and almost 30 selected artists shared their work through postcards.
Creating some 30 postcards is quite a task but it is so worth it once your letter box holds postcard surprises for weeks from fellow artists around the world.
